The tailoring process should not feel mysterious. You should know what happens first, what happens next, how long each step takes, and when the suit will be ready. That is how you avoid bad surprises — and how you walk out with something that actually fits. For a broader service overview, visit the custom suits Chiang Mai page.

This page covers exactly what happens at Keck from the moment you walk in to the moment you pick up your suit. It also answers the questions first-time customers ask most: timing, fittings, rush orders, what to bring, and what happens if something is not right.

Step 1: Consultation (15–20 minutes)

Every order starts with a conversation. Lucky asks what you need the garment for — business, wedding, travel, a specific event — because the answer changes everything: the cut, the fabric, the weight of the lining, and how aggressive the fitting schedule can be.

This is also when you share your travel deadline. Tell Lucky when you are leaving Chiang Mai on day one. The fitting schedule gets built around your departure — not the other way around.

If you have a reference photo, a colour in mind, or a specific detail you want — lapel width, button stance, lining colour — bring it. The consultation is the cheapest time to make decisions. Changes after measuring are easy. Changes after cutting cost time.

Step 2: Fabric selection (10–15 minutes)

Lucky shows cloth in your price range that fits your occasion and the season. You feel the fabric, see the colours in the shop light, and make a decision before measuring starts.

In Chiang Mai, fabric choice matters more than in most cities. The wrong fabric — too heavy, too synthetic, wrong lining — makes a suit unwearable in the heat and ruins an otherwise good garment. The right questions to ask at this stage:

  • What is the gram weight of this fabric?
  • How does it behave in humidity?
  • What lining options work with this cloth in Chiang Mai heat?
  • Is this the right choice for where I am wearing it after I leave?

Step 3: Measurements (15–20 minutes)

Measurements at Keck cover more than 20 points across the body. Not just chest and waist — shoulders, sleeve pitch, upper arm, wrist, seat, thigh, knee, trouser length, and the shape of how you stand and carry yourself.

Posture and shoulder slope matter as much as the numbers. A person with one shoulder slightly lower than the other needs a pattern that accounts for it — otherwise the jacket will always twist to one side no matter how many alterations you make. This is the difference between a truly personalized garment and a standard one adjusted to your measurements.

Wear or bring the shoes you plan to wear with the suit. Trouser length is set relative to your actual footwear — not estimated. If you are buying the suit for a formal occasion, wear the right height heel to the measurement appointment.

Step 4: First fitting and adjustments

Once the garment is cut and constructed, you try it on. This is where a tailor earns trust — or loses it.

At the first fitting, Lucky checks:

  • Shoulder line — sits flat, seam at the correct point, no divots or pulling
  • Chest and suppression — jacket closes cleanly, enough room to move, waist shaped correctly
  • Sleeve length and pitch — sleeve falls naturally from the shoulder, shirt cuff shows correctly
  • Jacket length — correct proportion to your build and trouser rise
  • Trouser seat and thigh — no pulling, enough room to sit, clean line when standing
  • Trouser break — confirmed with your actual shoes on

Everything that needs adjusting is marked and corrected before the final fitting. This is not a take-it-or-leave-it handover — it is the step where the suit goes from “close” to “correct.”

Step 5: Final fitting and delivery

After adjustments, the suit comes back for a final check. If everything is right, it is yours. If something still needs a tweak, it gets done. The suit leaves the shop when it is ready — not before.

Most orders are ready within 24–48 hours of the first measurement. Rush work is possible when the schedule is tight — tell Lucky your deadline on day one and he will tell you what is realistic.

If you are checking out of your hotel on the day of final pickup, hotel delivery is available. Lucky has brought completed suits to hotel rooms on checkout morning more than once.

“Lucky even came by my hotel for the final fitting, as I was leaving Chiang Mai on the day of pickup.”

— David Cheng

“Delivered it personally so that I was able to check out of my hotel in time.”

— Stevie-Ray van Steel

Rush orders: what is actually possible

Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours. Rush orders — where the suit is needed faster — are possible depending on the current workload and the complexity of the garment. A straightforward two-piece in a common fabric can be turned around faster than a three-piece with complex construction.

If you are in Chiang Mai for less than 48 hours and need a suit, come in on arrival — not on the day before you leave. The earlier in your visit you start, the more fitting time is available and the better the result.

Walk-ins and appointments

Walk-ins are welcome every day. No appointment is necessary. If you want to guarantee Lucky’s time at a specific hour — especially during busy season — a quick message or call ahead helps. But showing up without an appointment is never a problem.

The shop is open every day from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, including weekends and public holidays. Morning visits (before noon) are good for fabric colour decisions — the light in the shop is best and Lucky tends to have more time to talk through options.

What to bring

  • The shoes you will wear with the suit — essential for trouser length
  • Your travel deadline — so the schedule can be built around it
  • A reference photo if you have a specific style in mind
  • A dress shirt if you own one — helps set collar gap and sleeve length correctly
  • Your budget range — say it early and Lucky will work within it

What if something is not right after I leave?

Keck stands behind its work. If you pick up the suit and something is not sitting correctly, it comes back in and gets fixed — no argument, no charge. This commitment to customer service is one reason people return. The Flawless Fit Guarantee means multiple fittings and adjustments are included in the price, not billed as extras.

If you have already left Chiang Mai and something is wrong, get in touch. Lucky is reachable by WhatsApp and email. Most fit issues that show up after travel can be resolved at a good local tailor at home — Lucky can advise on exactly what to ask for.
